Best Santa Clara University Graduation Photo Spots

My favorite places to shoot grad portraits at Santa Clara, with the best time of day for each. In a session we usually cover two or three of these, routed so the light and crowds work in your favor.

01

Mission Santa Clara de Asís

Best time: Late afternoon

The signature SCU landmark. The adobe facade and bell wall make a warm, instantly recognizable backdrop. Best in late afternoon when the light turns golden against the stucco.

02

Mission Gardens & Rose Garden

Best time: Morning to midday

Lush, manicured beds and mature roses just steps from the Mission. Soft, even light and plenty of color — ideal for close, editorial compositions.

03

Palm-Lined Walkway (The Alameda entrance)

Best time: Afternoon

Tall palms and clean symmetry frame portraits beautifully down the central walkway. Strong depth and a polished, collegiate feel.

04

Abby Sobrato Mall

Best time: Late afternoon

The open central lawn with mature trees and room to move. Works especially well for wide shots, group photos, and the classic cap-toss.
