UC Berkeley Graduation Photographer / Photo Spots

Best UC Berkeley Graduation Photo Spots

My favorite places to shoot grad portraits at Berkeley, with the best time of day for each. In a session we usually cover two or three of these, routed so the light and crowds work in your favor.

01

Sather Gate

Best time: Early morning

The most iconic Berkeley landmark. Best in early morning before it fills with foot traffic. The arch frames portraits cleanly against the plaza.

02

Campanile (Sather Tower)

Best time: Morning to midday

Strong architectural backdrop with great contrast. The surrounding plaza and wide angles give plenty of variety within a few steps.

03

Memorial Glade

Best time: Late afternoon

Open lawn with mature trees and soft light. Works especially well for wide, editorial compositions and group shots.

04

Faculty Glade

Best time: Midday (shaded)

Tucked away with redwood canopy and dappled light. One of the more serene and less crowded spots on campus.
